Everything was made in a real hurry (promise), but well... It's ok when it's ok. 0. Index: ========= I............ Requirements II........... Credits III.......... Additional Credits IV........... Linux Version Notes V............ Many thanks to VI........... Greetings go to VII.......... More info about us... VIII......... Comments I. Requirements: ================ * Pentium class or better CPU (the better your processor is, the faster the intro will be :) * Some decent version of MS-DOS or Linux (yeahh!! Linux too!). This intro also works in a DOS box under Windows 9x. * Some megs of RAM (I think that 4MB, or a little bit more, should be enough) * A standard plain VGA card (YESSSSSSSS! Still a VGA intro! No Hicolor!) * Something that can play sounds on your PC (you know, a GUS, a SB..., also no sound is available) * For the linux version watch "IV. Linux Version Notes" II. Credits: ============ * Epsilum : code & concept * Nork : (great) music * DonVitto : lyrics & concept * Utopian : concept & about 10 lines of code :) * Sertrem : font & not support (playing with Linux all the time) III. Additional credits: ======================== * USM by FreddyV/Useless (thx for your support!) * UPX by Markus Oberhumer & Laszlo Molnar (really AMAZING packer, guys!) * PMODE/W v1.33 by Tran IV. Linux Version Notes: ======================== This is the Linux version of the intro called "Zapping", placed 6th at Euskal Party 7. I think it's the first ever Linux 64kb intro, so we're breaking barriers! :) All the Linux port was made by Utopian/Virtual Fantasies, including his own player (a very reduced version of the Virtual Sound System). This intro uses GGI for graphic output, so it should work under "any" graphic library. Well, not exatcly. It doesn't work properly under SVGAlib, because it doesn't behave well with multithreading, and the player uses a different thread (if you had a multiprocessor system you could get advantage of it :). The libraries required are very little: - Libc (depending on the version of the executable). It was ported to Linux using glibc 2.0 - GGI And no more! (well, only the graphic library under GGI: SVGAlib, XWindow, etc). This version needs a soundcard to be present and configured, otherwise it won't work. Soundcards are very cheap today, buy one and enjoy the music! (anyway, if you don't have a soundcard, you could try the DOS version or flame me via e-mail, I might try a nosound option). The intro is packed using UPX (great exe packer!), and thus you need some free space (about 100kb) under /tmp. I think it shouldn't be a problem ;). Oh, one more thing. The Linux version is only 46 kb, whereas the DOS one is about 63 kb. Imagine what we could have put in 19 kb more! Linux rulez! ;) For any comments about the Linux version of this intro please contact me at javier_pena@iname.com PS: A little comment for the Euskal party organization: now you can see it's perfectly possible to make good things under Linux, don't you? Then, include Linux in Euskal 8 compos! V. Many thanks to: ================== * Nork/Network. Thanks, thanks, thanks and... THANKS!! Utopian wants another MOD >-) * Wind/Network. We finally put the sorting code in ;) Your are a cool coder, I wan't to learn more!! :) * Leunam/Network. We really appreciate your ideas! Secret gfx parts rulez!! ;) Great ascii tutorial in the Trashcan! (see at top) :) * Witchcraft people, for trying to help us with uploading * Nefron... You know why :) After tons of versions, you accepted another one! Even if you didn't use it :) * Enlar/GENESiS. Many thx for the CUTE-FTP!! ;) * Portatil/Utopian... for the Euskal Party 7&1/2 X-DDDDD VI. Comments. =============== [Utopian speaking Spanish] (at the party) Gueno, gueno, gueno. Senco me tento y yo... [Utopian speaking Spanish again] (some time after the party) Y aquí estoy de vuelta, tiempo después de la party. ;D Saludetes!
