To . tell you the truth, I became a cop because I loved the idea of " owning the road ", having high-speed chases, taking on tight curves! I loved it! But the, reality of the job was that I spent all of my time handing out tickets. Citizens were so scared of the law, that no one ever gave me a real " run for my money! ". One day, I was given the key to changing my destiny when I won one million dollars in the lottery! That's when I decided that the time for racers had arrived! The roads are meant to be controlled by drivers, their choice, their speed! I set up a series of strategically located radar guns that I will use to record racers' speed as they fly by and reward the fastest drivers with cold hard cash! And the best part is that drivers can upgrade their cars and make them fly faster or simply add a bit of your own personal style! At the Beggining : In the beginning stages of Speed Busters, the team began the project by observing what had been achieved in racing games in the past, then selected elements that brought gamers the most fun. They tried to bring back some of the management aspects of the old 16-bit racing games like Sprint Rally and others. The team wanted to deliver a true feeling of speeding, a feeling of ownership, the need for driving strategy, and surprises like jumping on a train that is running and using it as a shortcut, avoiding an avalanche crashing in front of you, or being chased by water in an irrigation tunnel. Add this to the strategy of upgrading your car with money earned from speeding. Once the initial elements were finalized, the creation teams split into three specialized groups all working together to make the dream of Speed Busters come alive, comprised of Designers, Graphists and Programmers. Cars : Seven cars have been specially designed based on models from the 1950s era and the 1990s era. All the cars sustain damage in 12 different spots at three levels of severity and the more damage you have the more your car's appearance and performance will be affected. Speed Busters: American Highways also offers players the opportunity to upgrade or buy new cars as they win cash blasting through the radar! Check out the cars for yourself and you will see some of the unique features each offers in terms of performance and handling. Tracks : Feel the wind in your hair as you cruise on six main tracks plus one hidden track, all based on real North American locations. With 21 track configurations and four different me-of-day and weather conditions, including rain, snow, day and dusk, the ride is never the same! The track surface has also been designed to push drivers to the limit, featuring eight different terrain surfaces!
